My name is David Juelfs and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois and Missouri. I am also a certified school social worker in Illinois. Over the past 25 years I have had the opportunity to work with kids, teens, adults, couples, and families in a variety of settings including private and public schools, residential settings for both children and adults, and private practice. My experience within the school setting has helped me to be very familiar with Individualized Educational Plans and most school related issues including behavior problems, physical, cognitive, and educational disabilities. I have had extensive training and experience in treating trauma including victims of abuse and domestic violence, military personnel, EMT’s, fire fighters, and police. I understand that mental health, physical health, and spiritual health are all intertwined. I am up-front and candid with clients and provide a judgement free environment where strength, wisdom, and change can be achieved. I incorporate a variety of therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness. I also have experience leading psycho-educational/process groups on a variety of topics including social skills, anger management, youth leadership, sexual identity/gender, and mindfulness based stress reduction.
